Montessori Discovery Baskets

Last week Dominic helped me put together our first montessori discovery basket for the babies. It is amazing how much attention the boys will devote to ordinary household items grouped together in a little basket!! And big brother had fun helping me figure out what to put in there-I told him to find metal or wood items and we walked through the house together, talking about natural objects v. plastic.

Mush with Mommy

Dominic and I do not get to do these sensory experiences as often as we did before the twins were born. So when the opportunity arose this week, I jumped on it. Just corn starch, water and plenty of sprinkles for what he called our "cookies." And he had so much fun, I got a random "love you mommy" during play. I cannot wait until the twins are old enough to join us!! Mike has allegedly been working on a new sensory table with space for all three boys to play. Read: I don't think it's gotten past the honey-do list yet. I guess he's a little busy these days too. But when it is done, oh it will be a glorious mess!!!!

Boys and their toys

The boys are always at play. Including the 31 year old, who just tried to crash his new iCopter on my head. Twice. Dominic immediately ran and grabbed one of his airplanes and tried to land it on me too. This is one of those mornings when I just cede to the testosterone in the house.

Another goodie of Mike playing. I would say he was playing with the boys but that would be inaccurate. At least he doesn't need mommy's supervision too. I don't think.

Snowmageddon 1.0

Dominic has a blast with his PawPaw. Snow play is no exception! This kid loves the snow so much I have to literally drag him out of the dirty snow piles in parking lots on our way into the stores. This year I snagged a sled and an inflatable snowmobile 70% off at Target the day before Snowmageddon 1.0. Best.purchase.ever. Or at least for the week. :)

After Dominic took a ride or two, he decided it was time to try to pull PawPaw. Sadly he didn't get very far with that. Apparently we need to be eating more Wheaties around here. I also tried to snap a pic of the snow angels I made with Dominic before PawPaw came over. Hard to believe it, but our snow fort was even more pathetic, even with the assistance of snow brick molds.

Friday Night Fun

Painting with trucks. Awesome.

Valentines for our sweethearts

I have a little bit of backtracking to do. We will start with the big day for February. Dominic and I caught a few peaceful moments before Valentines and used the time to write to our flames: my dear hubby for me, of course, and Brooklynn Handley for Dominic. I'm not sure why he got it into his head that he wanted to make Brooklynn a valentine, but once he decided to, nothing was going to deter him. We also made some for GiGi, PawPaw and Aunties Katie and Melissa. Dominic was most excited about his valentine for daddy, though.

We went through the entire process in one sitting: making the valentines, stuffing the envelopes, addressing them, sticking on the stamps, and finally walking them to the mailbox. It was a rare teaching opportunity, to be sure. And fun for Dominic, of course.

Welcome

I am long overdue for a blog of our crazy lives. And I know what you're thinking: woman, you're busy enough already. Quit adding more to your "to do" list. Well, you never know what you're capable of until you try, I like to say. (Actually, I just plan to stop reduce my favorite online shopping addiction at amazon.com, but its not enough of a commitment for me to want to say that out loud yet). And anyways, this is serving as a great distraction from the 200+ pages of garbage filed by opposing counsel that I have yet to wade through this afternoon, but enough justifications: I'm here, and planning to make a more serious effort with this blogging thing. Because really, I am excited to share our family and adventures with you! If you are reading this "welcome" post, then you obviously already know about our family, but a quick debrief anyways: I have a loving husband, Mike, an almost-three year old, Dominic, and twins almost seven months old, Vincent & Marcus. Vincent is listed first because he's my favorite this week, but after Vincent starts rolling all over my house like his brother, that will undoubtedly even back out. Ok, ok, really I love them both to infinity and beyond. Maybe even the toddler. Anyways, welcome!
